Cinnamon Apple Ginger Tea

I don't know about you but I have got to have my apples when they are super crispy and crunchy. Mushy, soft apples make me cringe! I had some leftover apples from our apple picking trip a few weeks ago. They had already lost their tenderness but, were still good enough to put to use some way.

Here's a delicious Cinnamon Apple Tea with Ginger recipe I learned from my dad many years ago for you to try.

What you'll need:

-red or green apples

-3 to 4 cinnamon sticks

-1/2 tbsp ginger powder

-1/2 tbsp honey

-1/2 a lemon or lime

-1/2 tbsp agave *for added sweetness

-water

-soup pot

Directions:

  1. Wash all your apples.

  2. Chop up your apples into small pieces without peeling. Make sure to remove all the seeds.

  3. Throw the apples pieces into a large soup pot.

  4. Add cinnamon sticks.

  5. Add 1/2 tbsp of ginger powder. (*You can also use pure ginger and boil it with the apples instead of using the powdered version.)

  6. Fill the pot with water until you have completely submerged all apples and ingredients in water.

  7. Put it on the stove and let it boil for about 20 minutes. (*Warning: your kitchen will begin to become filled with a warming and soothing scent of cinnamon.)

  8. Using a big spoon, pour liquid through a strainer and into a container.

  9. In a mug, add 1/2 tbsp of honey and agave (if you desire to add sweetness).

  10. Squeeze 1/2 of a lemon or lime.

  11. Pour in tea, mix, and sip.

Benefits:

This homemade tea is perfect for flu & cold season especially right now, with our current fight against the pandemic. It is filled with natural antioxidants.

1. improves heart health

2. immunity booster

3. anti-inflammatory

4. and so much more...

I recall living with my dad, anytime he would feel even the slightest throat itch, he would quickly turn on the stove and start making this tea. I don't blame him though. Whenever I feel like I might be coming down with something, I can count on this tea helping me to feel good as new the next morning.

Hope you enjoy this quick and easy tea recipe as much as I do...
